China’s fast emerging phone maker, Xiaomi, is currently the world’s second largest mobile maker of wearable devices as of Q1 2015.
Xiaomi has secured the second ranking in the global wearables market both in terms of shipments and market share, according to an IDC report.
It has released its first product, CNY79 ($13) fitness band named the Mi Band, on July 2014. Debutting with its strong advantages of low price point and diverse functionality (long lasting 30-day battery life, and waterproof), the momentum picked up so quick that it had became a popular item. It is estimated that since its launch, Xiaomi has sold some 2.8 million of these devices, which has significantly impinged Apple, Garmin, Samsung, and Jawbone sales.
